COVID-19 and floods affected me- Chakwera

President Lazarus Chakwera says he is the best candidate to win elections in September stating that his failure to meet some promises in five years is due to among other things COVID-19, natural disasters and global politics.

He made the remarks when he submitted presidential nomination papers in Lilongwe today.

He said that in the past five years, Malawi has gone through many challenges including COVID 19, floods and various disasters.

According to Chakwera, when he came into power in 2020, it was not his intention for people to suffer in the country.

Chakwera said that in the five years he has served Malawi, he has tried to build infrastructure such as roads and address hunger issues.

Furthermore, Chakwera said that he is ready to work with Vitumbiko Mumba whom he named as runningmate to serve Malawians from September 16, if he wins the election.

In his speech, Chakwera appealed to Malawians to vote for him to continue the development projects he is undertaking.
