” I am seeing you” Mutharika fires shots to MBC

Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika has issued a stern warning to the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) over what he describes as continuous and unfounded attacks against him.

This contentious situation has escalated recently, coinciding with a new MBC program called “Timvetse,” which has drawn criticism towards APM, primarily focusing on his age and fitness for office.

Mutharika expressed his frustrations with MBC’s programming, asserting that the public broadcaster has shifted from its mandate of fair reporting to one of partisan attacks.

“My lawyer recently wrote to MACRA (Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority) concerning the biased coverage from MBC, but we have yet to receive a response,” APM stated. “This continuous assault on my character and abilities is unacceptable, and I will not sit idly by as my reputation is tarnished.”

During a recent segment, the host and guest at MBC suggested that APM’s age might be a limiting factor in his ability to effectively govern the nation.

Mutharika insists he is prepared to uphold the socio-economic status of Malawi, despite facing stiff competition from over 15 candidates, including incumbent President Lazarus Chakwera.
