“Malawi Vice President to be killed”

Malawi will have a state funeral soon if remarks by Vice President Michael Usi that there is an assassination plot against him are anything to abide by.

Usi has raised alarms about a possible assassination plot against him, asserting that his security has been compromised following his recent criticisms of the ruling party.

During a rally, Usi claimed that government officials have reduced his security detail and confiscated firearms from his protection team.

I am not afraid-Usi.

Despite the threats, Usi stated he is “ready to die,” emphasizing his unwavering commitment to speak out against the government.

Usi referenced an alleged faction within MCP, where one member cautioned against any violent actions toward him, suggesting there is division even among those who may wish him harm.

“We are all mortal,” Usi declared, quoting the voice note. “No one lives forever, but I will not be silenced by fear.”

The Vice President has received warnings advising him not to travel to Lilongwe, the capital, where tensions are particularly high.

“They want me to be afraid, but I refuse to cower. If my life must be the price for speaking the truth, then so be it,” he insisted at a rally.

MCP Publicity Secretary Jessie Kabwira yesterday asked Usi to stop the ‘nonsense’.
