Govt to give MILLIONS to Pastor Thom
Dismissed, arrested yes. Shamed yes. But now to become a multimillionaire. That’s the case of former Presidential Advisor to Lazarus Chakwera on Special Duties, Pastor Martin Thom, who will get a total of K597 million as compensation for unfair dismissal and arrest in 2021.
This decision follows a High Court judgment that deemed Thom’s arrest, subsequent dismissal, and treatment as unlawful.
Pastor Martin Thom was arrested amidst allegations of misconduct, which he vehemently denied.
The court found that the processes leading to his arrest and dismissal violated his rights, culminating in the ruling mandating the government to pay the substantial compensation.
Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, the attorney general has according to the Daily Times approved the compensation payment.
