Eating within: Clearing agent skips MK300 Million taxes

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has arrested Rhoda Ndovie, a clearing agent and operator of Limu Clearing, for allegedly evading over MK300 million in taxes.
Ndovie is accused of falsifying import documents, including changing the importer’s name and undervaluing goods from South Africa.
According to MRA’s Acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Wilma Chalulu, the authority conducted a search at the Lilongwe premises of Enock Chihana, president of the Alliance for Democracy, where the suspect’s goods were allegedly offloaded.
The MRA has indicated that its investigation is ongoing and will lead to legal action.
