Journalists ordered out of MEC audit case

Judge Chimbizgani Kacheche has this morning ordered journalists out of the ongoing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) audit case, which is currently being heard at the Blantyre Court.
The judge ruled that the matter is being conducted in chambers and therefore members of the press will only be allowed to follow proceedings in the afternoon session.
The case stems from an application by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the UTM Party, and a group of concerned Malawians, who are seeking a judicial order for an audit of MEC’s electoral system.
The hearing is still in progress.
