MRA arrests own officers

The Malawi Revenue Authority has moved to arrest two of its Customs officers over a case involving a businesswoman Rhoda Ndovie , a case involving MK300 Million.
The officers, Edgar Katunga and Charles Phiri, are alleged to have helped facilitate the fraudulent importation linked to Ndovie’s arrest on 26th August.
Investigations indicate that Rhoda Ndovie allegedly falsified import documents, substituting the actual importer, AFORD/DPP, with her own companies, Chigomezgo and Bongani Investments.
The clearing agency Limu Clearing, is accused of undervaluing the quantity and value of the goods.
