Teenager commits suicide after parents separation
A 19-year-old man from Nkhata Bay District, Precious Chirwa, has died by suicide after hanging himself in his house.
According to Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson Sub Inspector Devoter Mithi, Chirwa had recently separated from his wife and was struggling to cope.
On the day of the incident, Chirwa went to work at Mkondezi Rice Mill before returning home unnoticed.
His sister later discovered his body hanging from the roof of their house.
Health officials confirmed that Chirwa died from suffocation due to hanging.
The police are urging community members to seek counseling or share their problems with trusted individuals instead of resorting to suicide.
