Blantyre mob earns police condemnation
Limbe Police have condemned acts of mob justice that claimed the life of a suspected 30-year-old thief at Mutala Village, under in Blantyre.
According to Deputy Public Relations Officer for Limbe Police Station, Sub-Inspector Sam Kadyole, the deceased, identified as Jack Beyadi of Mandanda Village, was allegedly caught breaking into a house at Jumbe Village in the morning of September 12, 2025.
Kadyole said Beyadi attempted to flee when he was apprehended by the house owner, who raised an alarm. Villagers mobilized and brutally assaulted him to death before setting his body ablaze.
Police detectives from Limbe rushed to the scene and took the burnt body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where his death was confirmed upon arrival.
Kadyole further said police have instituted investigations into the matter and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
He added that efforts are underway to arrest and prosecute everyone involved in the act.
