‘DPP and MCP both preparing for President swearing in’

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has warned the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) against interfering with the presidential election results, after unofficial reports showed Peter Mutharika leading.

DPP officials expressed shock at MCP claims of Lazarus Chakwera’s victory, contradicting unofficial results.

The DPP emphasized that it will defend the people’s will and urged security agencies to remain impartial.

Both parties have separately said they are preparing for swearing ceremonies of their respective presidents.
