La Peter di?: Kabambe concedes to Mutharika

President of UTM Dalitso Kabambe has congratulated Peter Mutharika and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on their electoral victory, urging peace, unity, and national development.

Kabambe emphasized the importance of a peaceful transfer of power, saying it would reflect Malawi’s democratic maturity and resilience as a nation.

He also called for an independent inquiry into the death of former Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, stressing the need for transparency and accountability to bring closure to the nation.

In his message, Kabambe urged the DPP leadership to focus on inclusive governance, healing political divisions, and prioritizing economic recovery over retribution.

The statement comes as DPP supporters celebrated in Blantyre over Mutharika’s presumed win, despite the Malawi Electoral Commission not yet officially declaring him the country’s new president.
