Baby vs Daddy: Atupele congratulates Mutharika

United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has congratulated Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on his election as President-Elect of the Republic of Malawi.

In a statement Muluzi said the UDF and its members nationwide extend sincere congratulations to Mutharika following the Malawi Electoral Commission’s official announcement of the September 16 election results.

“We wish him success as he takes on the high responsibility of governing our country,” Muluzi said in the statement.

He further prayed for God’s blessings on Malawi and guidance for the country’s leaders in serving the people.

Mutharika was declared winner by MEC Chairperson Justice Annabelle Mtalimanja with 56.8 percent of the vote, defeating other contenders to secure a return to State House.

Muluzi’s message adds to the growing chorus of congratulatory remarks from political and civic leaders, signaling a spirit of acceptance and support for the President-Elect as he prepares to form the next government.
