Woman commits suicide after drinking beer
A 21-year-old woman named Maggie Peter allegedly took her own life by hanging herself in Kalanga Village, Mwanza.
According to Mwanza Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Ritta Mchecheta Nyirongo, Maggie had spent the evening of October 5, 2025, with a friend at a local drinking spot before returning home.
The next morning, her friend discovered her body hanging from the roof using a mosquito net rope.
he police and medical personnel conducted a postmortem at Mwanza District Hospital, confirming that Maggie’s death was due to suffocation caused by hanging.
The exact reasons behind her actions remain unknown, and the police have urged community members to seek counseling and share their problems instead of resorting to self-harm.
