Birds earn man arrest

A 43-year-old man, Chikumbutso Mizati, has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment with hard labor for possessing and selling protected bird species in Limbe.

Mizati was found selling seven live birds at prices far below the government-set rate of K140,000 per bird.

The court took into account that Mizati was a repeat offender, having been arrested for a similar offense in 2023.
