Kingston spends night in police cell

The Senior Resident Magistrate court in Mangochi ordered that former MP for Mangochi Central, Victoria Kingston, should spend another night in jail.

Magistrate Muhammad Chande, made the ruling after lawyers for the accused asked for more time to scrutinize facts of the case.

The court had also said it might not have jurisdiction to try the case, but defence lawyers said a precedent was set in a similar case in Lilongwe.

Kingston was arrested together with Sanudi Sande and Asiatu Amani, on suspicion that they conspired to murder new MP for the area, Roza Mbilizi.
