A lot of SEX: Over 150 thousand of condoms ‘used’ at Mulakho

The Mulanje District Health Office has reported that more than 160,000 condoms were distributed during the recently held Mulhako wa Alhomwe event.

Madalitso Katamba, the District Condom Programme Coordinator, stated that with the assistance of CEDEP, GENET, and Partners in Hope (PIH), four convenient distribution points were established to ensure easy and confidential access for all attendees of the festival.

He noted that this initiative was successful and will contribute to mitigating the further spread of HIV.

Grace Khombe, Communications Manager for the National AIDS Commission (NAC), praised this effort, emphasizing that condom usage has been shown to be an effective method for preventing HIV. “We encourage all stakeholders to persist in promoting condom use during such events.”
