Man arrested for killing a buffalo

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing a buffalo in Lengwe National Park, valued at K14 million, Malawi Data has learnt.

Felix Kholiyo, from Nsanje District, was caught by police on patrol on October 30, 2025, carrying meat in a bucket.

He admitted to killing the buffalo with five accomplices, who are still at large.

Chikwawa Police Station’s Public Relations Officer, Dickson Matemba, confirmed the arrest, warning against entering protected areas without permission.

Police are currently searching for Kholiyo’s accomplices.
