Assault suspects bail ruling today
The Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe will today rule on the bail application for 11 suspects accused of violent robberies and property damage in Mbowe, Lilongwe.
The suspects face nine counts each, including robbery with violence and malicious damage.
The State argues that bail would not serve the interests of justice, citing serious charges, while the defense claims the police have repeatedly violated the suspects’ constitutional rights.
The ruling is expected at 10 am.
