Man sent to prison for stealing radio station equipment

Victor Kumwenda, 35, has been sentenced to 2 and a half years in jail with hard labour for stealing equipment from Rumphi Community Radio, where he worked as a security guard.

Kumwenda pleaded guilty to theft by servant after being arrested in Lilongwe and some items were recovered.

The court heard that he had planned the crime, and the state prosecutor pushed for a stiffer punishment.
