Beer is BAD: Woman dies after drinking Kachasu

A 55-year-old woman, Grace Aaron, has died after drinking a bottle of Kachasu alcohol without eating in Cape Maclear, Mangochi District.

According to Monkey Bay Police Spokesperson Alice Sichali, the deceased was involved in the business of selling kachasu and on November 10, she drank kachasu while hungry until the morning of the following day.

Sichali said that at around 3pm on November 11, the woman collapsed and was rushed to Billy Hospital where she was declared dead.

The results from the hospital showed that the woman died due to low blood sugar levels following drinking a lot of alcohol while hungry.

The deceased hails from Muonda village, Nankumba sub-district, Mangochi District.
