Kasungu on fire after a woman’s resurrection from the DEAD
Kasungu police are searching for Lloyd Banda and other suspects involved in the vandalism and arson of houses belonging to Levison Kadelera and his relatives.
The violence erupted after a woman, Gloria Banda, who was believed to have died and been buried in 2014, was seen alive in the area.
According to Kasungu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Miracle Hauli, the incident occurred at Chilundu Village in Traditional Authority Chilowamatambe’s area.
Villagers reportedly spread the news of Banda’s “resurrection,” and the family took her to church for prayers to confirm her identity.
However, things took a violent turn when Banda accused her uncle, Levison Kadelera, of witchcraft.
The accused, along with some villagers, attacked Kadelera’s home, destroying six houses, looting property, and stealing items such as farm produce, fertilizer, and livestock.
Police officers visited the scene and found that the woman believed to have resurrected was mentally unstable and is being kept safe at the village headman’s house.
Police are urging the public to remain calm and allow them to investigate the matter.
Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward and assist with the investigation.
