Nyesi: Man dies trying to ‘steal’ electricity
A man has died from electrocution in Lilongwe after allegedly attempting to vandalize or steal electrical infrastructure.
The incident, which occurred at an ESCOM power installation, caused a power outage affecting the Lilongwe Water Board and parts of Area 3.
ESCOM has issued a warning to the public, stating that tampering with power equipment is extremely dangerous and often fatal.
The public is being urged to report any suspicious activity near power installations to the Malawi Police Service or ESCOM.
The electricity supplier is reminding the public of the risks associated with vandalizing power infrastructure and the impact it has on the community.
