Court stops redeployment of senior police officers
The High Court in Lilongwe has granted an injunction to five senior officers of the Malawi Police Service (MPS), stopping the government’s decision to redeploy them to the civil service.
The officers – Christopher Katani, Rhoda Manjolo, Emmanuel Soko, Chikondi Chingadza, and Barbra Mchenga Tsiga – had been redeployed by Chief Secretary Justin Saidi.
The court order, dated November 28, 2025, restrains the government from implementing the redeployment until further notice or until the matter is concluded.
Judge William Yakuwawa Msiska has also granted the officers permission for judicial review of the decision.
This follows a similar stay order granted last week by High Court Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda, stopping the redeployment of five senior Malawi Defence Force officers.
