Parliament approves 8 Trillion Kwacha budget increase

Parliament has approved the 2025/2026 Mid-Year Review Budget, increasing the total package to K8.589 trillion.

This represents a K512.6 billion increase from the original K8.077 trillion budget, presented by Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha on November 21, 2025.

The adjustment addresses rising costs, including a K98.5 billion boost for wages and salaries.

The funds will support government operations and projects through the Consolidated Recurrent and Development Accounts.
