Two students commit suicide in a day in Malawi

Sorrow has hit Malawi as two students have committed suicide within 24 hours, Malawi Data News has learnt.

Aubrey Misoya, 16, a Form 4 student at MEPIC Private Secondary School in Balaka, died after ingesting an unknown poisonous substance.

Aubrey had been struggling with conflicts over school fees, and police say he wrote suicidal messages on his phone before his death.

He was found unconscious in an unfinished house behind the school after asking classmates for water.

In a separate incident, Abel Mkandawire, a fourth-year Economics student at the University of Malawi, also died.

Details surrounding his death are still emerging.Both deaths have sent shockwaves through their communities, with investigations underway.
