Nurse commits suicide after being fired at work

A 38 year old nurse identified as Emmanuel Sikalamwa in Dowa district has been found dead after taking his own life after he was recently sacked at work.

Sikalamwa, was discovered hanging from a tree in a woodlot at Kamphenga Community Day Secondary School.

Sikalamwa, who had been dismissed from Madisi Mission Hospital, had moved to Chisepo with his family for a fresh start.

He had told his wife he was visiting his mother-in-law but didn’t return.

Police say the body was found on Monday around 10am when students went to study for exams.

Sikalamwa was from Chamadenga Village, Traditional Authority Kayembe, Dowa.
