Rains cause TROUBLE in Neno

Heavy rains have brought havoc in Neno district, affecting over 700 families and destroying most of their houses.

According to Brighton Mphinga, Disaster Risk Management Officer, three people have lost their lives due to lightning strikes, while six others have been injured, with five of those injuries caused by falling walls during the storm.

The stormy weather has impacted all four Traditional Authorities in the district.

Mphinga acknowledged the ongoing efforts of disaster risk management to support affected households but appeals to well-wishers for assistance with food and tents.

The district is still assessing the extent of the damage, with infrastructure, including school blocks, houses, and business shops, severely impacted.
