Kanyenda to be buried in UK next year
The family of the late Esau Kanyenda has announced that the former Flames striker will be laid to rest in Rotherham, near Sheffield in the United Kingdom, in January 2026.
This decision follows Esau’s wishes, as stated by his brother McDonald Kanyenda on Facebook.
In a statement, McDonald Kanyenda informed the public that all communications regarding funeral arrangements will be made by Peter Makossah.
The statement reads: “Our family has decided to respect and honour Esau’s wishes to be laid to rest in Rotherham.”
Kanyenda, a renowned footballer, had a notable career playing for the Malawi national team, earning him the nickname “Black Mama”.
He died after battling liver cancer.
