“My husband’s death is still unexplained” -Mary Chilima

The wife of former Vice President Saulos Chilima, Mary, says she is still reeling from the death of Saulos Chilima’s husband.

The late Chilima and eight other Malawians died in a Dornier 228 military plane crash in Chikangawa forest on June 10, 2024, while on their way to attend the funeral of their friend Ralph Kasambala.

Writing on her Facebook page this morning, Chilima said it had been a year and six months since the plane crash but she was still mourning.

“One year, six months. We are still mourning Saulos… A painful death. An unexplained death. Aaah.💔,” said Madam Chilima.

Last month, Justice Minister Charles Mhango said in parliament that he had completed reviewing all available reports on the investigation into the plane crash that killed Chilima.

Mhango said that once he has completed the review of the reports, he will submit a report to the head of state and advise him on whether or not another investigation into the accident is needed.
