“A black city” Power blackouts hit Lilongwe

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi has reported of widespread power outages in Lilongwe City due to heavy rains and strong winds.

Escom Publicist Pilirani Phiri says allen trees and electricity poles have disrupted power supply in several areas.

So far, technical teams are working to repair damaged lines and restore electricity.

The public has since been thanked for their patience and urged to report any fallen poles or exposed wires for swift action.
