Chimwendo to remain under police custody

High Court Judge Mzondi Mvula adjourned the bail ruling hearing for former local government minister Richard Chimwendo Banda to December 24, giving the State time to respond to the application.

Chimwendo Banda wants bail pending trial, citing trauma and medical treatment under police guard.

The state however objects.

Now, the state will file response by December with Chimwendo Banda staying in hospital under guard.

Chimwendo is accused of attempted murder of Frank Chawanda in Dowa, February 2021.
