Fertility: Over 1 thousand children born in Malawi on Christmas Day

Malawi welcomed 1,772 new babies on Christmas Day.

Official statistics show that of the births 1,756 are normal deliveries.

The newborns comprised 920 boys and 852 girls, according to data from the Ministry of Health collected across all hospitals and health centers.

Malawi’s population is approximately 22,483,711 people as of December 27, 2025, with a growth rate of 2.54% per year.

The country has a relatively young population, with a median age of 18 years and 2 months.

The population density is around 235 people per km², making it one of the most densely populated countries in Africa.
