Flooding water sweeps away a three year old

A three year old child in Nsanje District has been. swept away by flooding water after attempting to cross a flooded river.

This is according to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA).

DODMA spokesperson Chipiliro Khamula confirmed the incident, stating it happened amid heavy downpours causing flash floods in southern Malawi.

The floods have damaged houses and crops, prompting local councils to assess damage and provide aid.

Search and rescue teams are on high alert, with national teams on standby.
