Winning before elections: Two declared winners in Malawi polls

Two people Lawrence Chaziya and Gideon Masache from Chilobwe, Lilongwe, have been declared winners of their respective parliamentary and local government seats, having been the only candidates to submit nominations under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), chairperson Anabel Mtalimanja, confirmed the developmentd.

Over seven million Malawians are set to cast their votes in the upcoming elections.

Notably, a total of 17 presidential candidates have emerged.
