Two young siblings die after electrocution
Two young siblings have died after stepping on an electric wire inside their home in Chikwawa district, Malawi Data has learnt.
The two, Stalichi Laelo, 11, and Saineti Laelo, 10, were pronounced dead at Chikwawa District Hospital after their mother rushed them there following a horrifying discovery.
The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when their mother heard the children cry out and found them unconscious in the house.
Desperate for help, she sped to the hospital, but sadly, the siblings didn’t make it.
Chikwawa Police Station’s Dickson Matemba confirmed the deaths, saying police and Escom officials are investigating.
A technical team is assessing the scene to determine the cause of the electrocution. A detailed report will be issued later.
The community is in shock, mourning the loss of the young lives.
