Referee Kafakale nearly killed for ending a match at 75 minutes

There was drama when referee of the NBM FAM Cup final in Ntchisi district, Rabison Kafakale, was beaten for ending the match at 75 minutes.

This happened on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in the competition which is for players under the age of 23.

In the match, Ntchisi Tigers defeated Nthondo Select by two goals to one.

Ian Kapondera, the chairman of the Ntchisi District Football Association, said that all teams were aware that the match was to end before 90 minutes due to the late arrival of the teams.

Kapondera said that the incident was very disappointing because it was not what they expected.

He said that for now, the prize money would not be given to the teams as they were investigating the matter to find the culprits and give them the appropriate punishment.
