Chinese man dies in a terrible hit and run accident
A Chinese national, identified as Zong-Qing Tang aged 33, has died in a hit and run accident in Dowa district, police say.
The incident occurred on the Kasungu-Lilongwe M1 road at Nthandi village, where Tang was standing in front of a parked vehicle when he was struck by an unknown vehicle heading towards Mponela trading centre.
Mponela police spokesperson Macpatson Msadala said the vehicle, coming from Kasungu direction, hit Tang with such force that he sustained severe head injuries.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Madisi Mission Hospital .
The driver fled the scene, leaving Tang behind.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, urging anyone with information to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
