Asthma claims life of ex Malawi deputy Speaker of Parliament Kazombo
Madalitso Kazombe, the former Deputy Speaker of the Malawi Parliament, has died after battling severe asthma.
His untimely death has sent shockwaves through the political community and beyond, as friends, family, and colleagues remember him as a dedicated public servant and a champion for the rights of his constituents.
Kazombo who served as Deputy Speaker from 2014 to 2019, was known for his commitment to parliamentary integrity and his vigorous advocacy for youth empowerment and education.
Kazombo was first elected Member of Parliament for Kasungu East in 2014 and years later in 2019 became First Deputy Speaker of Malawi’s National Assembly.
He first entered politics in the early 2000s, quickly rising through the ranks due to his charisma and unwavering dedication to his community.
He played a pivotal role in several legislative reforms aimed at improving governance and public accountability.
During his tenure, he was instrumental in fostering dialogue between the government and civil society.
The burials arrangements have yet to be made.
