Man dies after shaft collapses

Tragedy struck in Kasungu as a 57-year-old man, Martias Moyo, has died after a mine shaft collapsed while illegally mining gold in Kachenga village.

Moyo was with his brother and wife when the shaft caved in, and despite rescue efforts, he succumbed to suffocation.

Kasungu Police are meanwhile urging community members to avoid such activities, emphasizing that illegal mining is against the law.

The police and medical teams visited the scene, and a postmortem confirmed the cause of death.
