Water scarcity hits Malawi capital city

Several areas in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi, are currently experiencing severe water shortages, Malawi Data has learnt.

The affected areas include, Nalikule, Lumbadzi, Area 25and Area 38.

According to the Lilongwe Water Board, the water shortage is caused by silt accumulation at its water treatment plants.

The board’s spokesperson, Chisomo Chibwana, has confirmed that efforts are underway to restore the water supply as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the Lilongwe Water Board has deployed water bowsers to critical areas to mitigate the situation and provide some relief to the affected residents.

Chibwana assured the public that the board is working tirelessly to resolve the issue.

The water shortage is likely to cause inconvenience to residents, and the board has urged citizens to conserve water and use it sparingly until the situation improves.
