Man commits suicide after being caught with a married woman

A 35-year-old man identified as Douglas Nazombe has committed suicide by taking pesticides tablets after being caught having sexual intercourse with another man’s wife at a lodge in Balaka district.

The incident happened at a certain Rest House within Balaka Town.

Facts pertaining to the incident are that, on Sunday Nazombe, who was a married man, was caught having sexual intercourse with another woman in a garden by passerby.

The passerby alerted other people and this prompted the villagers including the wife to Nazombe (now deceased) to flock to the scene.

At around 19:00 hours, the husband to the woman who was caught having sexual intercourse with Nazombe, went to the house of Nazombe but he did not find him.

As a sign of showing his anger, the owner of the wife maliciously damaged Nazombe’s bicycle and he later left the place.

Nazombe lodged a complaint about the damage of his bicycle at Balaka Police Station whereby both parties were invited for a dialogue and Nazombe apologised for the wrong doing.

Then on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Nazombe was found dead at a certain Rest House and aside him was a bottle with diluted pesticides tablets.

Police visited the scene and took the deadbody to Balaka District Hospital for postmortem where medical personnel revealed that the deceased died due to poisoning by drug.

The deceased hailed from from Misomali Village in Traditional Authority Nkaya in Balaka District.
