Man burned for stealing three goats

A mob in Masambanjati, Thyolo District, has stoned and burned a man identified as Sandikonda Ndaona who was accused of stealing three goats.

Ndaona, from Lemani Village, allegedly stole the goats from Maria David’s kraal on January 21, 2026.

Villagers tracked him down, found the stolen goats, and apprehended him.

He was being taken to Masambanjati Police Station but allegedly escaped, prompting villagers to pursue and recapture him.

The mob turned violent, leading to Ndaona’s death.

Police are investigating to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
