Village Head arrested over albino grave fiasco

Police have arrested Group Village Headman Khombera and five others for allegedly exhuming the grave of Mausamatha Zacharia, a person with albinism, in Dowa District.

The other suspects are Tony Chawando Mwale, Msoloni Makuyira, Maliton Maguya, Lazalo Gideon, and Yakobe Chakhaza. Zacharia died in August 2023, and her grave was exhumed on January 12.

Police say they’re committed to protecting vulnerable groups and will prosecute those involved.
