Cholera kills three as cases in Malawi reach 51

The Ministry of Health and has reported that Malawi has confirmed 51 cases of cholera, resulting in three deaths.

Minister of health Madalitso Baloyi has also disclosed that Blantyre is leading with 30 of these cases and two deaths.

She linked the outbreak to inadequate sanitation and the reliance on unprotected water sources within the communities.

Dr. Gift Kawalazira, the Director of Health and Social Services for the Blantyre District Health Office, indicated that the district has ramped up disease surveillance and health promotion efforts in the hotspot areas of Chileka, Chilomoni, and Chirimba to mitigate the outbreak.
