National exams aligned!
The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has declared a significant change in its examination timetable, indicating that starting this year, the national exams will commence with the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) rather than the conventional Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLCE).
MANEB’s Executive Director, Professor Dorothy Nampota, stated that this modification is in response to public suggestions aimed at enhancing the academic calendar.

She emphasized that stakeholders have recommended increasing the interaction time between educators and students, as well as minimizing the duration students spend away from school.
“I would like to inform the nation that we will initiate the examination process with the JCE, followed by the Primary examinations, and ultimately conclude with the MSCE,” Nampota remarked.
As per MANEB, the administration of all national examinations for the year 2026 is set to officially commence on June 1.
