Inspection of voter data in by-elections starts tomorrow
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that the inspection of the voters’ register for the by-elections scheduled on March 17 will take place from February 17 to 18, 2026.
Sangwani Mwafulirwa, MEC’s Director of Media and Public Relations, stated in a press release that all registered voters are encouraged to visit the centers where they registered to verify their information.
“Registered voters can also verify their details by dialing *2509# and entering their voter certificate number. This verification service is free and is available on both TNM and Airtel networks,” Mwafulirwa added.
He emphasized that all registered voters in the areas designated for the by-elections, including those who registered in anticipation of the 2025 General Election and those who registered between January 31 and February 6, 2026, should check their respective centers to ensure their information is accurately reflected in the voters’ register.
Recently, MEC published a schedule for the March 17 by-elections, which will occur in four constituencies and nine wards throughout the nation.
