FIRED! The George Kasakula chapter at MBC is CLOSED 🔒

The board of directors of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has terminated the employment of the institution’s director general, George Kasakula.

In an interview conducted this afternoon, Kasakula verified this information, stating that he received the letter of dismissal today.

“It is accurate; the board has dismissed me without notice. They claim I was biased,” he remarked.

This decision comes after his appearance before the board’s Human Resource and Administration Committee the previous week.

Kasakula was appointed as the director general of MBC in 2021 and signed a new contract in June 2024, which is set to last until June 2027.

In October of the previous year, he was suspended from the public broadcaster while investigations were ongoing.
