Flooding hits Nkhotakota

The National Roads Authority has reported that floodwaters have overflowed a portion of the M005 road in Nkhotakota district.

This situation arises from significant rainfall along the Lakeshore, which poses a risk of undermining the road embankment and disrupting connectivity.

The impacted area extends approximately 500 metres immediately following Kaombe Bridge towards Dwangwa.

In a statement, Ammiel Champiti, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, indicated that the situation is under observation, and a contractor is present to address the emerging damage and restore normal traffic conditions.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution and adhere to instructions from traffic and emergency personnel, as further updates are anticipated.
