Woman dies while crossing a river

A 32-year-old woman has been discovered dead at Katambira Dock, located under Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota District.

The tragedy happened when the woman was carried away while trying to navigate across the Mpenya River.

Chisomo Chuma, the Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer, has identified the victim as Jamira Yazido.

According to her statement, the woman was swept away while she was on her way back from her boyfriend’s residence.

Chuma further noted that a post-mortem examination performed at Nkhotakota District Hospital revealed that the cause of death was suffocation resulting from drowning.
