Man sent to prison for 12 years over rape

The Balaka First Grade Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 30-year-old man to 12 years with hard labor after he was found guilty or raping a 5-year-old female child in Balaka.

Gladson M’bumpha, the Balaka Police Public Relations Officer, has identified the individual convicted as Ganizani Chimkondenji, who resides in Mponda Village under Traditional Authority Nsamala in the District.

As reported by M’bumpha, the State prosecutor, Superintendent Bodwin Msukwa, informed the court that the convict, Ganizani Chimkondenji, perpetrated the crime on February 13, 2026, at Mponda Village in Balaka District, where he had sexual relations with a 5-year-old girl.

In delivering the sentence, First Grade Magistrate Augustine Mizaya sentenced Ganizani Chimkondenji to 12 years of imprisonment with hard labor.
